We've heard it said that 'if kids didn't nap, nobody would have them,' but you might as well have as much fun as you can while everyone is awake. Here are 9 play centres in Toronto.

Adults can enjoy a coffee and some carbilicious treats while the kids try their hand at cool crafts at this Leaside play cafe. Popping over to visit mom for snacks is de rigeur, of course, but once they find the air hockey table in the basement, we may be able to finish our scone uninterrupted. Drama, drumming and knitting classes round out the offerings.

Bamboo Bay in Leaside features a variety of music and art classes and the coveted craft drop-in, featuring crafts like animal masks, beaded necklaces, and other projects more advanced than what the home studio produces. A lovely retail store allows us to turn our sorry craft cupboard into something magical.

We couldn't have dreamed up a better activity centre. There's a clean, bright play space and fitness classes for both moms and kids—with daycare options available for moms who are working out (or grooving in the Urban Dance Moves class). Drop-in and try a class, or register for the program that interests you (and your littles).

If you're in the Ossington and Bloor area, check out The Children's Storefront. After a devastating fire in October 2009, families of the community worried it was the end of an era (it first opened in 1975). Thankfully, through community support, the popular, free children's indoor play centre opened its new doors in February 2011. Today, The Children's Storefront remains a fun, clean place for children to play and parents to connect. Bring your lunch or snacks (nut free please) and enjoy a coffee while your babies play.

Think you know trampolines? Think again. At the new Sky Zone in Leaside, there's a trampoline dodgeball court, featuring vast open trampoline space and even padded walls. With toddler time and super effective trampoline aerobics, there's a little something for everyone to put a bounce in your step ($8 for 30 minutes).

Becoming eager pupils of the master model builders, then on to MINILAND®, where we see Toronto landmarks recreated. The 4D movies are awesome, and building and testing planes, trains and automobiles on the speed track appeals to all.
