The 2011 Top 10 Canadian Recipe Searches on Google
Last week, Google released its annual zeitgeist list, and included in the analysis was a compilation of the most searched recipes by Canadians in 2011. It was an interesting combination of foods, telling me we were mostly interested in cheap-and-cheerful comfort food, peppered with a little trendy fare and infused with an ethnic flavour or two.
The top recipe searches were as follows:
- Pork Tenderloin
- Pumpkin Pie
- Butter Chicken
- Quinoa Salad
- Cake Pops
- Tzatziki
- Macaroni Salad
- Red Velvet Cupcakes
- Rice Krispie Treats
- Shepherd’s Pie
I did a quick search of the SavvyMom recipe database, and am happy to report that we have recipes for a few of the items searched on Google this past year. I have linked to our recipes for you, if you would like to consider giving some of the most popular dishes of the year a try.
- Cranberry and Goat Cheese Pork Tenderloin
- Winter Citrus Quinoa Salad
- Festive Rice Krispie Wreath Treats
- Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
- Sweet Potato & Turkey Shepherd’s Pie
- Peppermint Marshmallow Pops
For me, the most surprising search on the list was probably macaroni salad. I recently left a job in catering, and can honestly say that in the past five years, I think we may have made a true macaroni salad one or twice.
Were these the recipes you were looking for this year? What do you think will be popular in 2012?
