Soft Peaks
If you're a fan of soft serve, Soft Peaks in Gastown is a definite must. Huge plus: they're Vancouver's only 100% organic soft serve ice cream shop (and, you can taste the difference). Try their signature honeycomb peak flavour. They also have milkshakes.

Rain or Shine
Rain or Shine is a Vancouver institution, with locations in Mount Pleasant and Kits. Pro tip: order four ‘kid sized' scoops so you can try a variety of flavours. Favourites include honey lavender and malted milk chocolate. Most flavours are gluten and egg free.

Earnest Ice Cream
Ask a local their favourite ice cream shop, and Earnest will surely be on the list. They have two shops and a truck, and you can find their product sold in stores and farmers' markets across Vancouver. The salted caramel and lemon poppy seed are to die for.

La Casa Gelato
If you're more of a gelato fan, La Casa Gelato in Strathcona is an East Van legend. They have more than 200 flavours available on any given day, and have made more than 500 over the years. They have your regular flavours, as well as some wild ones (kimchi!).
-
On Yogurt
Next to BC Place, On Yogurt offers up organic yogurt and yogurt-based gelato. Then they ‘ice fry' (or flash freeze) the treat right in front of customers (the owners learned of the method while travelling abroad to Thailand). More than 40 toppings to choose from!

Johnny’s Pops
OK, so this is technically not ice cream, but Johnny's Pops is easily the best popsicle we've ever had. You can find them sold on a bicycle cart at fairs and markets across the city.
