Kids' Clothing Brands We Love
We're giving these brands and shops two big thumbs up. Some because we love how they're ethically or locally made, some because of the positive message they spread. Whatever the reason, these are the shops we feel really good about supporting. And if you've got to do some shopping anyway, you might as well feel good about it.

ivivva
ivivva is an offshoot of lululemon for young girls. When your sporty little one needs quality gear for all their athletic and extracurricular pursuits, we've loving ivivva for their top-quality pieces made from great fabrics, like lulu's four-way stretch Luon or anti-stink Silverescent. And their return policy is great: product not meeting expectations? Just take it back. And just like at lulu, they'll hem any pants you buy, and will put in a child's hem if you like, so you can let down the hem as your kiddo grows, giving you more bang for your buck. They've got stores all across Canada, or shop online.

Oui Me
Oui Me was created after mom Areta Gawrachynsky saw a gap in the market for quality boys' clothes. Her son has sensitive skin and eczema, and she was having trouble finding clothes in soft, comfortable fabrics that were still stylish. Oui Me makes super cool clothing for girls and boys from newborns up to 8 years old, it's all made in Toronto, and it's available via their online shop.

Justice
Justice is huge with tween girls, the ages 7 to 14 crowd, and it's easy to see why: it's cool. The clothing is fun, sporty (the skirts have built in shorts—the better to run around in!) and this is the place to shop if you're into clothes with emojis on them. This clothing isn't subtle, the colours are bright and the patterns are wild—but it's all as fun and vibrant as the tweens we know.

Limeapple
Fun, fresh, and oh so colourful—Limeapple is another great brand for girls. Stocking gear for 12 months up to age 14—we love that their focus is on fashion that is fun (think bright colours, patterned leggings, fuzzy vests and lots of butterflies) and that they stock sportswear and swimwear as well as dressier stuff for family events, holidays, and parties.
-
Mini Mioche
Mini Mioche was created by a Toronto mum after she had trouble finding ethically made, quality basics for her kids. Everything is comfy, cozy, practical, and kid tested—and made right here in Canada from organic fabrics using non-toxic dyes. They carry tops, bottoms, onesies, dresses, rompers, swimwear, sleepwear, and outwear for girls and boys (from infant up to size 6) and they also carry a curated selection of Canadian-made footwear, gear, toys and books for infants and kids. They have two Toronto locations, but you can also shop them online.

Peekaboo Beans
Peekaboo Beans' clothes are all free from toxic dyes, as well as free of snaps and buttons—so there's nothing that will get caught as little ones climb, jump, and twirl. It's details like that which make it obvious: this stuff was all designed by a mom. We love that the quality fabrics (due to higher thread counts) means that this stuff lasts forever—your kid will definitely outgrow it before it needs replacing.
-
West 49
This Canadian company was founded in 1995 and has been the purveyor of skater boi chic ever since. The boys love it, and we're happy we're supporting a home-grown company that also advocates skating safety and run's community workshops on skating skills through their LRN2SK8 program.

Consignment
Oh, how we love a good consignment store. Sometimes the kiddos grow so fast they don't even have time to ruin their clothes. Take those duds to the consignment store and swap them for something else. Your wallet, and the planet, will thank you. Try some of our favourites like Once Upon a Child (across Canada), and Little White Sneakers (Toronto, and online).
