But it’s not really the phone that’s doing all the work’it’s the apps we download onto them. Here are a few of our favourite Calgary-centric apps’favourite because they help us stay smart.
City of Calgary Road Conditions App
Good For: Drivers who want to be in the know about snow
Why It Made the List: The City of Calgary Road Conditions App was specifically designed to help Calgary drivers plan their travels during the winter months, and it’s essential if you live on a street which is a declared snow route. You’ll find real-time info on the locations of snow plows via GPS tracking with pictures from 45 traffic cameras set up on major transportation routes. This app will deliver ‘push’ alerts to users notifying when a snow event has been declared (and lifted) so that they can move their vehicle before it gets tagged and towed.
yycParking App
Good For: Finding a spot to park
Why It Made the List: Because finding a parking spot can be a pain, especially if you’re in a hurry. The yycParking App will find you an available parking spot in one of the seven downtown parkades. Click onto the parkade where you want to go and it will give you the address and driving directions to get there. No more driving around in circles for you.
