6 Christmas Shows to See in Calgary
Dreaming of a white Christmas in Calgary: easy. Getting out to see a show with the kids while prepping for upcoming festivities: not so easy.
We can help make it happen with our recommendations of six Christmas shows.
Get the season off to a swinging start by watching StoryBook Theatre’s production of the classic musical, White Christmas. Based on the 1954 film starring Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby, the story revolves around two war veterans turned song-and-dance team. The men pair up with two talented sisters to perform a Christmas show at a Vermont lodge owned by their former army commander in the hopes of saving the business. Your budding musical enthusiasts will appreciate the catchy tunes (such as ‘Snow,’ ‘Blue Skies,’ ‘I Love a Piano’ and, of course, ‘White Christmas’) and you can take some time out to just sit, relax and hum along (before heading back to the holiday to-do list).
Known for its high-quality productions for children, after 36 years, StoryBook Theatre now has a permanent home at the Beddington Heights Community Centre in the northwest (which is another reason to celebrate). White Christmas runs from November 23 to December 16, with evening performances at 7:30 pm (Wednesday to Sunday) and matinees at 2:30 pm (Saturday and Sunday).
Add some ‘glee’ to your upcoming holiday season. That’s the ticket.
